Star Dock

Star Dock the largest orbital space station in the Federation. Nearly 30 miles in diameter, the station can dock over 75 large starships including the Champion VII at once and near 200 smaller vessels as well. Star Dock has two purposes. One is the dock of starships for refuel, repair, or storage. The other is that it serves as Earth's communications array that keeps Earth in contact with the other planets as well as the starships. Its signal is directed to the Federation Communication Relay Planet, Insecciton. Its shields are always on full power to protect the array so the only way that the ships can enter and leave the station is by means of a shield passage ring surrounding the dock.
