All ships must have an emergency drive of some kind. The main type used for the largest ships is the Hyper Drive. It is much faster than the warp drive but it takes up a lot of room and overheats after 34 seconds. The space that can be reached with the Hyper Drive is ether Hyperspace or Gamma Space.
